Proposal for Final Outcome 


For my final outcome, I am going to recreating a narrative sequence as this is the piece I was least happy with. For final I am going to make a stop-motion sequence of a hand picking up a pencil to write my name, this is because I think that this idea is more advanced than my lego idea, as I have to take the photos at the right time so that they do fit into the stop-motion and aren't just suddenly written on the page. 

To make this stop-motion, I am going to need some paper, a pencil, a camera and a book. I reckon that this stop-motion may take me a couple of tries to get right, this is because I am apprehensive about how I will be able to take the photos and write my name at the same time. I am thinking about using my phone camera for this task because I am able to take 'bursts', this means I can hold down the shutter button and the phone will take multiple photos in one go; this function may be helpful towards me for this task. 

I am going to make this stop-motion on Wednesday 21st March, as this is a half day so I have plenty of time to complete the task. This date is also before the deadline of my task so it won't be late. I shall need to have all of my supplies ready before this date so that I am prepared. 

I think that this stop motion will be about 30-50 photographs, this is because I am going to have the pencil spin about on the page on its own first, this detail will make the stop-motion a little bit more exciting for the viewers. I have predicted this amount also because I think that the part where I write my name will be quite a few photos too, this is so that my stop-motion flows smoothly and doesn't look jagged or bumpy. 

Overall I think that my stop-motion will turn out quite well, this is because I have put a lot of thought and consideration into thinking about a concept for my task that isn't too easy but also isn't too difficult enough for me to not be able to complete the stop-motion.

Sequence of Decay GIF To make this GIF I froze rose petals in water, put the ice block onto the plate and used my camera to take the images. Then I took photos of the ice melting every 5 seconds and then I uploaded my images into photoshop and I made them into a GIF. If I were to do this experiment again I would leave the rose petals and water in the freezer for longer just so I did not have the visible water trapped in the ice.

CAROUSEL WEEK 4. Patterns & Printing. On Tuesday 3rd October, we were working in the art rooms. When we sat down in the room, the teacher explained that we would be using different types of media and creating patterns on white and black paper. We were told different emotions, shapes, songs and we had to make a series of patterns on the paper the related to how the emotion & song made us feel. We used biros, pencils, graphite pencils, chalk and charcoal. The first emotion was anger, using the graphite pencil, the marks made were very thick and very dark and very heavy. The next emotion was joy using a pencil, these marks were quite soft and light, there was a  massive comparison between the anger and joy markings. Printing In The Darkroom On Tuesday the 17th October, I went into the darkroom and I began to print my negatives into larger images. First of all, we had to be told how to print our images, so that we knew what to do. We first had to make sure that the board that the light projected onto was set up correctly. We then had to insert our negatives into the enlarger, we then had to turn the light on and turn the brightness up and focus the image using the focus finder, to do this we had to put the focus finder onto the image and if the image looked grainy, it means that it is in focus. We could then start testing the prints. We had to cut a sheet of our photographic paper in half (lengthways) and then use these two strips of paper as test strips. We put a test strip into the board and then turn the light on and move a piece of cardboard across the paper every 10 seconds.
